DONATED CAR UPDATE The 1964 project car went to a new home just before St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Donn Pittman’s mechanic is going to take good care of it – he is looking at joining up with the Club, as well! SPEAKING OF CARS…
…OK, vans, I mean. Steve’s Greenbrier is back from its extensive stay at the body shop. It originally looked like this:
Then it looked like this:
It now looks something like this:
Tony Snipe did a great job on a near impossible project (LOTS of rust!) She still has a way to go (interior and such) and will be a work in progress for the next 6 months or so, but a DRIVABLE work in progress! See ‘ya on the road! FROM THE E-MAIL BAG A guy at my church is selling a bunch of car books and diecast cars. I took a big bin of Mopar-related stuff but he also has a couple big boxes of Ford and GM. From engine re-build, body work, coffee table books, etc. He said he has about a 1,000 diecast cars. Price on books was quite reasonable, I don't know what he wants for the diecast. He also has some oil coolers left. Pass this along if you know of anybody who might be interested. His name is Elliot Lowell, 332-9603. He lives in Hartsville. MORE…
OLD FRIENDS MEET AGAIN
Two very elderly friends, Max and Gus, met in the park every day to feed the pigeons, watch the squirrels and discuss world problems. One day Gus didn't show up. Max didn't think much about it, figured maybe he had a cold or some such. But after Gus hadn't shown up for a week or so Max really got worried. The only time they spent together was at the park, and Max couldn't remember where Gus said he lived, so he was unable to find out what had happened to him.
A month passed and Max figured old Gus had gone to his heavenly reward, but one day Max approached the park and, lo and behold, there sat Gus! Max was very excited and happy to see him and told him so! Then he said, "For crying out loud Gus, what happened to you???"
"I have been in jail, " Gus replied.
"Jail?" cried Max, "What in the world for?"
"Well," Gus said, "You know Sue, that cute little blonde waitress at the coffee shop where we sometimes get coffee?"
"Yeah," said Max, "I remember her. What about her?"
"Well, one day last month she got mad at me and to get even, she charged me with rape. I was so proud of what everyone would think an old goat like me could still do, that when I got into court, I pled 'Guilty.'
The judge took a good look at me and gave me 30 days for perjury." CHRISTMAS IS UPON US, AGAIN! Hello to All (Lowcountry Corvair and Central Carolina members). Last weekend, I reserved 45 seats at the Legends in Concert Theater in Surfside Beach, SC, for December 8th. Adults will be $26.00 each and children 3 to 16 will be $14.00 each. We will be seated on rows 11 and 12 center stage. All Corvairs will be parked up front of the parking lot for the general public to admire so get them suckers running! PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS NOW!
This will be their Christmas Show and we will be attending the 2:00 p.m. show with dinner to follow at a restaurant that I will have to make arrangements with later on. Also, I still have to find a hotel that will give us a good rate. I hope to do this in August when I go up to my week at my timeshare. Thanks, and don't forget to mark your calendars -- no excuses not to go! Thanks, Paul and Jim MEMBERS’ HEALTH UPDATES
Mary Graham is home from Heart Surgery. Doug says that she is resting, eating well, as well as walking well. She has about six to eight weeks of recovery time ahead of her.
Arlene Lux is also back home recovering from her Knee Surgery. Frank says that she is doing well; getting plenty of rest and liquids.
Norma Callahan is currently at Trident Hospital in Summerville. She is being treated for an ulcer, and we pray she’ll be back sporting around in her Corvair with us soon!
Thanks to everyone keeping Mary and Arlene in their thoughts and prayers. We’ll post updates when they’re available. MUCH THANKS
Mega thanks to all who took the time to sign my get well card! Both Frank and I appreciated it much. Hope to see a lot of you in Helen GA next month.
-- Arlene A RECENT CORVAIR SIGHTING While driving home yesterday afternoon from Walterboro, I saw a ’65-’66 Corvair off in the woods, obviously abandoned. I stopped and there was no engine or interior, but had some straight body panels with surface rust. Might anyone in your club be interested in looking at it? It appeared to be in an area that had been use as a dump, and was sitting in some water so I couldn’t get right up next to it. My first car was a ’65 Corsa, so I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for them. I can give directions to it is someone wants to take a look. Just let me know. Here we go!!!
Arrangements have been completed for the tour to Cypress Gardens, the Dock Restaurant, and Mepkin Abbey on March 31, 2007. Please note the date!!!! We will leave Wendy's in Goose Creek promptly at 9:00 a.m. Wendy's is across the tracks next to 84 Lumber in Goose Creek. We are scheduled to arrive at the Gardens at 9:30a.m. We now have thirteen people and we need fifteen to get a discounted ticket of $8.00. We will also have a guided tour with fifteen. If you were not at the March meeting, and want to go, please e-mail me, axil79@yahoo.com, or call me at (843) 795-6636 before Wednesday the 28th. More on the tour -- we will leave the Gardens about 11:30 a.m. and go to the Dock Restaurant for lunch. Following the lunch we will go to Mepkin Abbey. When we finish there everyone is on their own to get home safe. Admission to the Abbey is free. The Dock is owned by Gilligan’s now so the lunch will be whatever you eat and whatever Gilligan’s charges for lunch. It is not too expensive and the food is pretty good. -- Jim Clees _______________________________________

Mr. Moore hasn’t slowed her down since off-loading from the journey from Summerville back to Washington! Thanks to Ken King of A.R.E. A “LOCAL” TECH TIP FRESH AIR HOSE
It's amazing what some people can come up with when needed. I recently tore the 3'' fresh air hose that goes from the upper shroud to the firewall on a 65. Not wanting to lose cooling air I just cut a piece of thin metal to size, drilled three holes, and painted it. In the meanwhile, I asked Ray Pease how much trouble it was to install a new 3'' hose. He came to the meeting with a better quick fix than my metal plate. He found a cover off of a pickle jar that fit perfectly over the air opening. He sealed it and painted it. It's amazing what a little forethought and planning can do. Ingenuity always wins.

I. Thou shalt not store thy cars out-of-doors, except for thy wife’s modern iron. II. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s car, nor his garage, nor his battery charger. III. Thou shalt not love thy cars more than thy wife and children; as much, but not more. IV. Thou shalt not read thy Hemmings on company time, lest thy employer make it impossible to continue thy car payments. V. Thou shalt not despise thy neighbor’s Edsel, nor his DeSoto, nor even his 1947 Plymouth. VI. Thou shalt not allow thy daughters nor thy sons to get married during the holy days of Hershey. VII. Thou shalt not deceive thy wife into thinking that thee is taking her for a romantic Sunday drive when, indeed, thou art going out to look at another car. VIII. Thou shalt not tell thy spouse the entire cost of thy latest restoration, at least not all at the same time. IX. Thou shalt not promise thy wife a new addition to the house and then use it to store cars; thou shalt not store cars in the attic. X. Thou shalt not buy thy wife a floor jack for Christmas.
